A 92-year-old Massachusetts woman with dementia performs Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata’ on a piano

Buzzards Two, Mass. – A 92-year-old pianist speaks to his audience. Elaine Labor suffers from dementia but she remembers her love of music.

It recently went viral on ticket ok with Beethoven’s performance of ‘Moonlight Sonata’ in 2019.

Elaine says, “I don’t know that,” before she runs a third movement from Beethoven’s famous work.

Labor was playing in a senior live community at Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts, while his daughter Randy records Labor.

Due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, Randy said he has been unable to visit his mother for several months this year. When he was finally able to visit again, he posted a video on Elaine’s game ticket ok, “with the goal of raising awareness about Alzheimer’s dementia and the impact of epidemic restrictions on this population and their families.”

Soon, Labor said requests were coming. One was for ‘Moonlight Sonata’, which he recalled he recorded in 2019.

“I didn’t expect it to go viral, but we’re here,” Randi said. “My mom, a professional musician, has considerable dementia, but life through the piano makes sense to her.”
