Livington County, Mitch. (WXYZ) – A 4-year-old North Carolina girl died in a car accident while traveling with her family on Friday.
On Friday, Jan. 1, at 11 p.m., officers with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office fee responded to a report of a solitary vehicle accident with potential injuries heading north toward 23 South on Highland Road.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that a 36-year-old father from Fayetteville, North Carolina, was driving north in a 2006 Ford Expedition when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and hit several trees. The man’s 33-year-old wife, son’s son and daughter-in-law were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, deputies say.
The driver’s 4-year-old daughter was pulled out of the vehicle and injured on the spot. Police say the other occupants of the vehicle were pulled out by Heartland Deerfield Fire Authority personnel and taken to the University of Michigan Hospital for treatment of injuries.
Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash, according to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Fees.
The incident is under investigation.
