87 arrested after swarming Kentucky Daniel Cameron’s home in Louisville, Kentucky, in ‘Call to Action for Justice’ for Breonna Taylor

– About 90 people were arrested Tuesday night in front of a house owned by the Kentucky attorney general after stopping what organizers considered a “call to action in search of justice” for Breonna Taylor. WDRB reports that protesters with the Up to Liberty social justice group gathered around 4:30 pm on the lawn of AG Daniel Cameron’s home in the St. Matthews suburb of Louisville, and some of the protesters said they had come from Atlanta and New York Organizers posted a video on Facebook showing the protest that took place, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader. At 5 pm, the police officers had appeared, and at 6 pm, the protesters were seen in line by the police, waiting to be taken to the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.

Cameron’s office and the FBI have been investigating the March shooting death of 26-year-old Taylor by Louisville police, who was executing a no-hit order at his home. One of the three officers involved has been fired; the other two are still employed by the department. In a statement released Tuesday night, Cameron insisted that the ongoing investigation into Taylor’s death was “thorough and fair,” and that the protesters were only trying to “escalate” things. “That is not acceptable and it only serves to further divide and tension within our community,” he said. The 87 protesters who did not leave after a warning were charged with disorderly conduct, criminal intrusion, and intimidation of a participant in a legal process. Many were later released on their own recognition, with hearings set in October, according to the Courier journal. The document lists Houston Texans wide receiver Kenny Stills and Porsha Williams of Atlanta Real Housewives like being among those arrested. (Read more Kentucky stories.)
