The Pennsylvania Department of Health reports 786 new cases of coronavirus as of Sunday.
This brings the statewide total of cases to 101,027.
There were eight new deaths reported Sunday, too, for 7,015 total coronavirus deaths in Pennsylvania.
The number of tests administered in the last seven days is 146,701 with 5,552 positive cases, according to the Department of Health.
Allegheny County reports an increase of 138 cases and Philadelphia reports an increase of 182 cases.
“As the state has implemented new mitigation efforts to compensate for recent increases in cases, we must renew our commitment to protect against COVID-19 by wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, and following the requirements set forth in bar and restaurant orders. , meetings and telecommuting, “said Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine in a press release. “Pennsylvania has been a model for the country on how to effectively reopen using a careful and measured approach. Authorities report a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases among the younger age groups, particularly those ages 19-24.
The percentage of cases is broken down by age group in this way:
- 1 percent from 0 to 4 years old,
- 1 percent from 5 to 12,
- Almost 3 percent from 13 to 18,
- 8 percent 19 to 24,
- 38 percent 25 to 49,
- 23 percent 50 to 64,
- And almost 25 percent 65 and older.
In nursing and personal care homes, there are 18,638 cases of COVID-19 residents and 3,599 cases among employees, a total of 22,237 at 788 separate facilities in 59 counties. Of Pennsylvania’s total deaths, 4,803 have occurred in nursing or personal care facility residents.
