72 new cases of COVID-19 reported in SLO County


San Luis Obispo County reported 72 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 1,078 confirmed cases as of July 14.

It is the county’s largest total number of one-day cases since the pandemic began.

Fourteen people are hospitalized, including six patients who are in the ICU.

Another 359 people are recovering at home and 699 people have recovered.

A patient’s recovery information appears as “unknown”.

San Luis Obispo County has had five deaths attributed to COVID-19.

Free COVID-19 tests are currently available to the public in Grover Beach, San Luis Obispo, and Nipomo.

The emerging test clinic in Nipomo will be open until Thursday, July 16.

Health officials say 402 cases, or about 37% of the county’s total, are the result of the patient’s direct contact with a person who tested positive for the virus; 320 cases are attributed to the spread of the community; and, 112 cases are the result of traveling out of the county. Another 244 cases are still under investigation.

  • Cayucos – 7

There are 17 additional cases in communities with fewer than five cases, and the Department of Public Health is not identifying those locations. The location of four cases appears as “unknown”.
