A seven-year-old boy with no underlying conditions was the latest death from coronavirus in Georgia, officials said.
The child fell ill after attending a Savannah church, where he was in contact with two elderly residents who also became infected and died from the virus, the local NBC branch reported.
“The death of this child is absolutely tragic, and we pray for their loved ones in this difficult time,” said goochier Brian Kemp in a statement.
The boy, who was not identified by authorities, suffered a seizure while showering and was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at the station, according to the station.
A small number of COVID-19 patients are exhibiting neurological problems such as stroke and seizures, a report found in April in The New York Times.
Dr. Lawton Davis, Georgia’s local health director, described the death as a “heart attack” and stressed the need for everyone to take the virus seriously.
“We know that older people and those with underlying conditions are at higher risk for complications, but this is a disease that everyone should take seriously,” Davis said.
‘Take care of each other, wear a mask in public, wash your hands often and stay home when you are sick.
“A crisis in the whole community requires a response to the community broadly, and we must all do our part to keep each other safe,” he added.
