Seven residents of Washington’s three nursing homes have died from a coronavirus outbreak linked to staff who attended a major wedding last month and became infected.
According to reports, the outbreak took place on November 20, almost two weeks after the wedding in rural Ritzville.
The victims were elderly men with spiritual medical conditions, the Grant County Health District reported Thursday.

The health district said the virus could also kill four other residents at two other facilities. The cause of death is pending in those cases.
In a statement, the district said it has not been confirmed whether the employees who were infected at the wedding had direct contact with the seven residents who died.
“Because the staff at these facilities take care of the entire unit, direct contact with the patients involved could not be ascertained,” he said.

The Tri-City Herald reported on Thursday that more than 500 people attended an air hangar at the November hang wedding.
At the time, statewide coronavirus restrictions limited wedding ceremonies to 30 guests or less, according to the paper.
On Nov. 16, health officials said at least 17 people attending the wedding were infected. Other attendees were requested to test and stay separate.
