WWE SmackDown was on the roll this week as we got one of the most beautiful episodes of the brand in a long time. Although SmackDown has built some interesting rivalries in recent months, this week was something special because it gave the fans more than they expected.
RETRIBUTION returned to SmackDown this week to make a statement after the market fully exploded last week and then vandalized the RAW backstage area.
Jeff Hardy faced WWE Intercontinental Champion AJ Styles during his brand new Phenomenal Intercontinental Statistic System (PISS) segment, and we’ll likely see Hardy compete for the Intercontinental Championship soon.
Bayley and Sasha Banks got the shock of their lives because the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions and RAW & SmackDown Women’s Champions were not ready for what fell on the show.
Kalisto made a surprising comeback during the show to help Gran Metalik defeat Shinsuke Nakamura, and with the Lucha House Party back, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions should get into defensive mode.
Sheamus took down Shorty G to make another statement, as the Celtic Warrior may be heading for a rivalry with Big E as a rule.
In this article, we’ll look at the 5 things WWE just got on this week’s episode of SmackDown.
# 5 RETRIBUTION hits WWE SmackDown again
WWE’s latest faction RETRIBUTION has left a mark on both WWE RAW and SmackDown without revealing its members’ identities. Following attacks and vandalism by RAW earlier this week, the men and women of the SmackDown faction took over again.
The group first made its mark when Big E and John Morrison were put on their game. They attacked both men and injured Big E’s knee in the process. The whole SmackDown locker room seemed to be united against the usual enemy, but they were not yet ready for anything to expect from the attackers next door.
During Big E and Morrison’s second meeting about SmackDown, part of the SmackDown locker room ran the ring to endure RETRIBUTION. They managed to do so, but exposed the backstage area where the faction attacked several officials and talent before the SmackDown Superstars could return to rescue them.
This shows that WWE has big plans for RETRIBUTION, and they seem to be unstoppable at this point. Will we see the RAW locker room unite against the horrible faction as well, or will the division over RAW allow the group to leave another mark?
It seems that RETRIBUTION has grown in size, and the game of numbers could help the faction make an enormous statement about both brands before they finally reveal their identities. Looks like WWE and SmackDown are doing the right thing with the group right now.
