49ers Raheem Mostert restructures deal, rejects commercial request

Raheem Mostert will brief the 49ers camp with a new deal Tuesday, less than three weeks after his agent went public with a trade request.

“Happy that things are working and we hope he has another great season there,” Mostert’s agent Brett Tessler tweeted Monday. “Thanks to the organization for taking care of it.”

Tessler’s previous tweet on July 8 expressed frustration with the 49ers over “months of unproductive talk” about “tweaking enough” of Mostert’s contract after his breakup season.

Mostert’s deal still runs through 2021, but he can potentially double his salary this year and earn close to $ 5 million through incentives and a $ 250,000 bonus. He is slated to earn $ 2.575 million in base salary this year and $ 2.875 million next year.

That bonus comes from the 49ers giving him the incentive last season to reach 850 rushing yards, even though he ran for a 772-yard team. Mostert did not start a game last season. He set a record 49ers with 220 rushing yards and four touchdowns in his victory in the NFC Championship Game.

Tessler did not return a message seeking comment, nor did the 49ers announce the move.

In other contract news, sixth round recruit Charlie Woerner signed his four-year contract, making him the fifth and final recruit to sign.

Mostert signed a three-year contract last year based primarily on the skills of his special teams, then emerged as the 49ers’ most explosive running back during last season’s Super Bowl campaign.

The 49ers’ playing field is also jam-packed with Tevin Coleman, whose $ 4.55 million salary is what Mostert allegedly sought, as well as Jerick McKinnon’s expected return.
