49ers news: Reuben Foster activated from PUP list; Joshua Garnett was valued by the Lions

A few former picks from the first round of the San Francisco 49ers were in the news Sunday morning. Reuben Foster, who suffered a major knee injury in May of 2019 that resulted in nerve damage to his foot, was activated from the PUP list for Washington on Sunday morning. Foster has always been a bigtime talent, but his field problems have plagued Foster’s career. Washington arrested Foster in November 2018 after the Niners fled Foster following an arrest of domestic violence.

The Lions said goodbye to Joshua Garnett Sunday morning. I remember how shocked the NFL Draft community was when the Niners traded for Garnett. He was never that type of player. San Francisco traded nine places and gave Kansas City a fourth and a sixth-round pick in exchange for Kansas City’s first and seventh-round selections in 2016. Garnett seemed more like a mid-second rounder than a first-round talent. He did not have athletics to flourish in the NFL, and unfortunately it appears when his career is over. We’ll see if another team gives Garnett a chance.

Hindsight is 2020, and you could do this with anyone but the players at no. 28 are available, with Garnett still on board, will not make you happy:

Xavien Howard

Michael Thomas
