Austin, Texas – A Round Rock call center confirmed that 48 residents and 33 staff members tested positive for COVID-19. The Williamson County Rapid Response Viral Attack team says it is responding to the San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center and other COVID-19 nursing home groups in the area.
“We have multiple groups at the facility right now,” said Amy Jarosek, team leader for the Wilco Rapid Response Viral Attack Team.
Jarosek says a group is defined as one or more residents / staff who test positive for the virus in a facility. The San Gabriel Rehabilitation and Care Center in Round Rock issued a letter confirming that they have 81 cases at its facilities.

Jarosek says the strike team is made up of 30 members from the Health District, EMS and the fire department. The team has kept up to date with the 62 nursing homes, assisted living and memory care facilities in Wilco.

“They are overwhelmed right now. just trying to keep its residents healthy and then mitigating the problem of not being able to get families and loved ones to come into those facilities, so we want to act in a role supporting those facilities, “Jarosek said.
