Four more local residents, including a 100-year-old woman, have surrendered to COVID-19 as Sumter County surpassed 3,000 positive results and topped 23,000 cases of the deadly virus in the tri-county area.
The latest deaths were all Lake County residents. They were identified Wednesday by the Florida Department of Health:
- A 55-year-old woman who tested positive on September 24;
- A 100-year-old woman who died on Sept. 30. Tested positive;
- -Kt. A 68-year-old man who tested positive for 1; And
- 25 year old woman Kto. A 75-year-old woman who tested positive.
Thirty-one new Kovid-19 cases were reported on Wednesday and around the villages. These include:
- Villages (Summer, Lake and Marion Counties) 12 out of 857 total;
- Leisburg 17 in total 1,480;
- Summerfield four up in 456;
- A total of 391 Lady Lake three;
- Fruitland Park up three in 201;
- Ox Xford one up in 151 total; And
- Belleview one for a total 404.
Sumter County now has 3,009 cases reported – an increase of 18 from Tuesday to Wednesday – with 1,702 men, 1,281 women, 13 non-residents and 13 people listed as strangers. A total of 211 cases have been reported in long-term care centers and 779 cases in correctional facilities. 87 87 deaths and 291 people have been treated in area hospitals.
An increase of 12 in 248 hours – the villages speed up Summer County with 808 cases. In addition to those mentioned above in Oxford, the other identities are Coleman (69 11), Wildwood (0 470), Bushnell (4 354, 14 which is 9000 inmates and staff members in the Summer Correctional Institution), Webster (111), Lake Panasofki (86), Center Hill (60), Sumterville (57) and Lady Lake portion of the county (45). Coleman’s federal prison also has 117 cases involving 16 inmates and 101 staff members.

- Cities with the most cases: Oklahoma (8,394), Summerfield (456), Bellevue (404), Danellon (392) and Citra (199). Seven cases have been reported in the villages. A total of 1,425 cases were reported between inmates (1,318) and staff members (107) at Lowell Correctional Institution and Marion Correctional Institution.
All told, there were 821,123 COVID-19 cases reported in Florida – an increase of 4,423 from Tuesday to Wednesday. Of these, 810,256 are residents. A total of 1,524 cases have been reported in long-term care centers and 2,506 cases in correctional facilities. Across the state, 17,131 have died and 49,889 have been hospitalized.
