3 Must-land recruits for Wolverines in 2021

Football in Michigan may miss Rocco Spindler, but other priority goals remain and these are the three that the Wolverines should land in 2021.

There’s no point in acting, as Rocco Spindler’s commitment to Notre Dame was not a blow to Michigan football and its 2021 recruiting class.

It was and everyone who said otherwise is just not true.

It’s still a bit surprising to me that Spindler signed the in-state Wolverines for Notre Dame, but the Fighting Irish have their own draw and Spindler seemed very comfortable with the coaching staff, especially the offensive line coach.

You never really know every reason why recruits make the decisions they do. But at the end of the day, Michigan football may not be responsible for the way it has recruited Rocco.

From Matt Dudek wishing him a happy birthday, to all the staff who really went all-in, Michigan did a great job, it just came short.

But if you look at the 2021 Wolverines’ recruiting class, it’s still pretty good, with 21 total promises, 11 of which are ranked as four-star prospects or better according to the 247 sports compositions.

Michigan now ranks ninth on the team rankings from 247 sports, with the chance to put together another strong finish.

Of course, the hope was that Rocco would be part of that finish and that his potential commitment could add to the momentum, especially in the state, won from the recent speech of three-star receiver Andrel Anthony.

Missing out on Spindler is no doubt, but the Wolverines are still in a good position in 2021, especially if they can run in their top three remaining priorities, starting with Drew Kendall.
