The department’s mortality assessment on Monday says a child between the ages of 1-17 died from the virus. The report was updated hours after the health department released its weekly update, showing an additional 7 deaths.
Valley Children’s Hospital confirmed that the child was a patient in her hospital.

No further information was immediately available. The director of Fresno County Public Health, Dr. Rais Vohra, had no details about the pediatric patient’s case.
