29 Riverside County Coronavirus Deaths Reported as Daily, Weekly Records Broken – Press Enterprise

Another 29 deaths from COVID-19 were reported Friday, Aug. 7, in Riverside County – the most in a single day since the pandemic began.

And the number who died of COVID-19 in the past week went up to 104 – the most far-reaching in a seven-day period. That is an average of more than 14 deaths per day.

Before that, most of the dead came in a period of seven days – 83 – 27 July and was bound 28 July.

The province reported more deaths each of the past two Mondays – 42 on August 3 and 34 on July 27 – but both of those totals include deaths on Saturday and Sunday, when the province did not post any updates.

As of Friday, 799 residents of the province have died from COVID-19. One week earlier, the figure was 695.

Confirmed cases have gone up by 711 as officials say a statewide testing backlog confirms positive results will be delayed.

Statewide, a backlog of up to 300,000 results will be resolved this weekend, said California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly at a news conference Friday. Because this seems to lower the number of positive results than it really is, the state has frozen the process of removing counties from the coronavirus tracking list – which is Riverside County – Ghaly said.

Here are the latest figures, according to county and state officials.
