21 new cases of La Crosse Co. COVID-19, one under 4 years old


LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WXOW) – The La Crosse County Health Department said there were 21 other confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

One of the new cases involves a child four years old or younger.

The new cases bring La Crosse County’s total to 335.

As of Wednesday, 132 are considered recovered and 203 active cases in the county.

Today’s positive rate was 7 percent. Overall, the county rose a tenth of a percentage to 3.2 percent.

Four people are hospitalized.

The demographics of Wednesday’s case involved the following age groups:

  • 0-4: A female
  • 20-29: Ten males, four females
  • 30-39: Two males, one female
  • 50-59: A man
  • 60-69: A man
  • 70-79: a man

The health department did not release symptom information in any of the new cases.

As of Tuesday, the county had 283 new negative tests reported by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services totaling 10,152.

The COVID-19 compass for the county is at severe risk (RED) for the spread of the virus in the community.

On Tuesday, the county also updated the list of places where people may have been exposed to the virus. His Outbreaks and Investigations page provides locations, dates, and sometimes when people who later tested positive for the virus visited him.

MADISON (WKOW) – The percentage of COVID-19 positive cases was more than 4 percent in new numbers released by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services.

DHS also reported seven deaths since yesterday and 31 new hospitalizations. There have been a total of 757 deaths in Wisconsin.

The Department of Health Services reported 9,638 new test results, of which 432 – or 4.3 percent – were positive, according to figures released today.

According to DHS, measuring the percentage of new cases returned on testing each day helps to differentiate whether the increases in cases are due to further spread or more testing.

Over the past seven days, an average of 3.6 percent of tests have returned with positive results.

State figures for the Western Region, which includes Buffalo, Trempealeau, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon and Crawford counties, show nine people hospitalized with COVID-19, one drop from Tuesday. None of them needs intensive care.

In the state, there are 239 (-1) people hospitalized with the virus. 89 (-4) are in intensive care.


The Monroe County Health Department said they had five new cases. Two are men in their 20s with mild symptoms, one is a woman in her 20s with mild symptoms, and a woman in her 30s who is asymptomatic. The investigation continues in the fifth case, a woman in her teens.

Grant County recorded four new cases.

Vernon County added one case for a total of 32. Vernon County Health said its most recent case is a woman in her 60s who is isolated in her home.

Crawford County had a new case on Wednesday.

According to the CDC, symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches.
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or odor.
  • Sore throat
  • Stuffy or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
