2022 Infinity QX555 unveiled with brand new, FX-inspired style

The 2022 Infinity QX55 debuts to brighten up the brand new crossover lineup with a fresh look that also submits to the past. Sales will begin in the US and Canada in the spring of 2021, and prices will be available closer to launch.

The designers of the QX55 have hinted that the arching canopy of the crossover is a tribute to the same silhouette as the 2003 Infinity FX. Curves play a big role in the style of the new model, such as the raised, rounded areas that run along the edges of the hood and the shape of the hatchback. In front, there is a large lattice and the three-dimensional pattern of the lattice draws inspiration from origami.

“We set the stage with FX about 20 years ago, and the brand new Infiniti QX55 brings us back, closer to the spirit of our brand – and it takes us forward,” said Payman Kargar, president of Infiniti.

Buyers will be able to get the QX55 in eight body colors. The two standard choices would be Dynamic Sunstone Red and Slate Gray. There will also be Majestic White, Liquid Platinum, Graphite Shadow, Mineral Black, Black bs Bsidian and Hermosa Blue.

The QX55 only comes with a variable-compression 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and CVT that channels power in a wheel-to-wheel-drive system. The powerplant produces 268 horsepower (200 kilowatts) and 280 pounds feet (380 Newton-meters) of torque. During normal driving, the drivetrain sends 100 percent of its power to the front wheels, but can give up to 50 percent of the way to the rear wheels when things get stuck.

Inside, the QX55 comes with Infinity’s dual-touchscreen system with an 8-inch upper display for infotainment and a 7-inch lower monitor for various vehicle controls. The tech wireless application supports CarPlay but needs to be plugged into the phone to use Android Auto. The device has three USB Type-A ports and a Type-C for charging.

Rear passengers can be comfortable with a sliding bench that moves about six inches forward. Most likely, there is 26.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row.

The QX55 will be available in three trim levels: Luxe, Essential and Sensitive. All models come standard with features like LED headlights, power hatchback, power-sliding tinted sunroof and front seat. The Sensory Grade features a 16-speaker boss stereo, head-up display, maple open-pore wood trim and semi-aniline leather upholstery in a Monaco Red and graphite color combination.
