The Hyundai Tucson is a critical component of the auto toe manufacturer’s success, especially since it is the best-selling crossover (and second-best-selling vehicle overall) sold in the U.S. That’s why we’re a little surprised to see Hyundai taking such big risks in redesigning the 2022 Tucson, which has a brand new design that takes the look of the 2021 Elantra to a whole new level.
New Tucson’s advances are not limited to styling and design. Like its compact-sedan brother, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson will also be available in the U.S. For the first time in both a hybrid and a plug-in will come in the character, adding power without sacrificing functionality. In addition, the N-Line trim will sometime in the future spread Tucson, joining the upcoming Sonata and Elantra – as well as the current Elantra GT N Line and Veloster N – to outperform Hyundai’s sports portfolio. The Hyundai Tucson is on sale in Korea this month as the 2021 model Dell, but it will not arrive in the US until mid-next year in the form of 2022.
2022 Hyundai Tucson Design: Sharp Chic
There 2022 Tucson will not be with its predecessor thanks to the descriptive thanks provided by the company such as “Parametric Dynamics” and “Speed Gemstone Surface Details”. The most famous at the 2022 Tucson haunt is a set of blade-like taillights that will probably be inspired by a farm plow. Suspended from full-width LED bars, quad tad lights are further broken by small, triangular elements that disappear when not illuminated. The lower rear bumper trim has a unique diamond texture that is probably hidden behind a fax rear skid plate. Hyundai cleared the look of the 2022 Tucson by hiding the rear window wiper under the roof spoiler, controversially moving the brand’s oval H badge up to the window glass.

What’s more, even a small crossover is different from other Hyundai models. It shares some design themes with Elantra, but the avant-garde Tucson doesn’t look like the sleek Palisade and Santa Fe or Sponky Kona and place. To be honest, we’re actually digging 2022 Tucson’s bold, parallel-universe style.
2022 Hyundai Tucson Interior: Modern Diggs
The interior of the 2022 Tucson takes on a slightly less aggressive look, although it is still clearly the modern Hyundai. The driver sits behind the tiller-shaped steering wheel, unlike the sonata, and two strips of silver trim surround the driver and both front passenger seats, giving the cabin a twin-cockpit look. A flat dashboard sits on top of a lower dash that bends down from the passenger, appearing airy and open and possibly alleviates alle claustrophobia; We have to sit in it to test that impression.
The Tucson digital instrument is also significantly modernized by way of a cluster that sticks to the dashboard rather than resting in a hooded binary. Still, the digital instrument cluster and screen-heavy center stack give the SUV’s new interior a sleek, contemporary look.
Other interior enhancements include car-to-home communications that can control smart devices and lights while on the road, which will be useful when returning home on a dark night or a humid summer day. There is also a new available air quality monitoring system for 2022 that tracks external pollution levels using fine-dust sensors. It also checks the indoor air quality and purifies the cabin as needed, while low humidity evaporation helps keep the HVAC interior odor-free. Car-to-home and air purification facilities Hyundai has not specifically confirmed whether it will come in, but we think they will come.
2022 Hyundai Tucson Engines: Power of Choice
The standard engine in the 2022 Tucson will be Hyundai’s 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder, which will provide an estimated 190 horsepower (142 kW) and 182 pound feet (260 Newton-meters). The eight-speed automatic is the only transmission available with a direct-injected base engine.
However, the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid will bundle a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four with an uninterruptible electric powertrain, giving the electrified SUV an estimated 230 hp (172 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 nm). That’s slightly more than the 192 ponies found in the Sonata hybrid or the 139 of the Elantra hybrid, giving Tucson some pretty expressive performance. It is not clear which gearbox box the hybrid crossover will use, but a six-speed automatic (on sonata) is a decent bet. The 2022 offer fur will have a Tucson plug-in hybrid using the same Turbo Four, with range and battery specifications still unknown.
As predicted, the Tucson will get front-wheel drive and HTRAC both-wheel drive, and the latter has been improved with more driving modes in some markets. Building on the outgoing Tucson’s Eco, Comfort, Smart and Sport settings, the 2022 model adds mud, sand and snow. U.S. So the extended drive selector has not been confirmed, but American dealers will be surprised not to appear on the roster given Tucson’s importance.
Coming to the new SUV is an extensive list of drive assistance and active safety features. It is not yet clear which will be the standard or optional, but further collision monitoring and prevention with pedestrian inspection, lane-cooking assistance, blind spot monitoring, and Hyundai Highway driving assistance will be available on the 2022 Tucson. The outgoing model model offers the next collision prevention technology as an alternative, so we expect the new one to standardize it.
2022 Hyundai Tucson Specs: Nitty Gratty
The 2022 SUV has just a few notes on a ruler bigger than its predecessor in every metric. The new Tucson measures 105.5 inches between the axles, with only minor improvements on the old Tucson’s 105.1-inch wheelbase. The new model Dell’s overall length of 177.2 inches is 0.8-inches higher than the 2021 Tucson. And a 0.6-inch increase in width brings the 2022 Tucson to 73.4 inches. The height of 65.0 inches is the smallest increase, just 0.2-inches above its predecessor. Despite the small dimensional growth, the interior space increases considerably. Hyundai only mimicked the specifications of the cargo volume, but the 2022 model Dell 3821 has cubic feet, an increase of 7.7 over 2021 (and about four cubes above the larger Santa Fe crossover).
When sold in the first half of next year as a 2022 model, the Hyundai Tucson should be priced slightly higher than the existing SUV. For a gas powertrain alone, a base price of approximately 24 24,000 should be expected, with high-end models demanding $ 33,000 or more. About $ 1,500 should be added to the HTRAC all-wheel drive. Meanwhile, depending on the Tucson hybrid trim should be between $ 27,000 and 35 35,000 (add another 500 1,500 if you want four running wheels).
