The 49ers started the 2020 NFL season with Super Bowl aspirations. They did not want to choose the upper part of the 2021 draft.
But that’s where the 49ers advance after a third straight loss on Sunday. San Francisco was officially knocked out of the NFC playoff controversy when the Arizona Cardinals topped the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday afternoon, dropping 31-33 from the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas.
With the loss to Dallas, the 49ers reached 11th place in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, according to Tanthath.com. They slipped to 12th when they lost to the New York Giants’ Cleveland Browns in a “Sunday Night Football” match.
The 49ers are one of six teams with a 9-9 record, along with the Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers, Giants, Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos.
The problem for the 49ers is that the Cowboys, Chargers, Giants and Lions all have a bad schedule power, meaning they prefer more than the 49ers.
If you hope the 49ers pick the top-10 draft, you’re in luck. They play the Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks to close out the 2020 season, and both teams are fighting for playoff positioning, meaning they will be heavily invested in efforts to beat San Francisco.
While the 2020 season coach Kyle Shanahan and his players have not lived up to their expectations, the silver lining is that they will have a top chance in the talented team to stay healthy next season.
