2020 Tour Championship Leaderboard, Scores, Takeaways: Extends Dustin Johnson’s Lead, Will Anyone Catch It?

Dustin Johnson did what he did in the last four tournaments he played Sunday at the 2020 Tour Championship. The DJ competed in the final pair entering the 4th round at the golf course, this time with a sweet low of 64, which put a gap between the rest of the area at East Lake Golf Club.

Johnson surprisingly ran the ball in Round 3, which was a huge script flip from the second round. He hit 11 of 14 fairways (nine more than Saturday) and finished second in the strokes and got out of the team. That led to a total of seven birdies, a 64 and a runaway train that are unlikely to be caught on Monday as the final event of the 2019-20 PGA tour season approaches.

The DJ (-18) has never won a Tour Championship, but he will take a 5-stroke lead in the final round on Monday over Justin Thomas and Xander Schaufel (who split the Tour Championship and the FedEx Cup in 2017). They will play with 15 million at the table (and maybe the Player of the Year award if we just keep an eye on DJs and jetties).

Although Johnson’s catch was difficult. He has lost to just two golfers in the last five weeks – Colin Morikawa at the PGA Championship and John Reham at the BMW Championship playoffs last week. With a five-stroke lead and only 18 holes left, it will take a small miracle for the champion not to finish.

However, if it Is Going to be caught – while That is unlikely, He has blown big leads Before! – Here’s who has the chance to do this on the final day of the 2019-20 PGA tour season on East Lake.

T 2. Justin Thomas (-14): Still, he missed a 16-inch (!!) stretch in the third round on Sunday, Thomas did a little better than one of those first two days. He’ll need a little help – even if he’s lucky enough to be blessed with a little bit of what happened to the next nine for the Eagles on Sunday – but he’s been first in the field in strokes from tee to green. Another hot day with Putter, some op-hole holes from the DJ to the next nine and he’s going to play for 15 15 million.

T2. Xander Shafel (-14): If you take a pre-tournament stroke applied to this area, Skchafel will lead this tournament. No wonder, though, that he’s absolutely crushed on this golf course. He’s scored 32 runs on the last nine and he’s making everything he’s looking at on these greens (which doesn’t necessarily bode well for Monday). Maybe the only way to beat a DJ is to throw a Thomas-Shachafel combo at him and hope for the best.

4. John Raheem (-13): Four of Rahman’s last five rounds have been spectacular. The group’s outlet for the Round 2 event on Saturday was 74, but on Sunday it bounced with 66 by birdieing the last two holes. He overtook Johnson in the final round last week – the 54-hole leader – by running him down and beating him in the playoffs by three before beating him. This is a little big and will be more difficult to cross, but Rehman is still alive to see what his first FedEx Cup trophy will be.

5. Colin Morikawa (-12): Morikawa fired a shot of the day on Sunday when he came out of a fried egg in an early bunker. That led him to 3-under 67, which at least gives him a chance at DJs if something goes wrong. The reality here of Morikawa (as well as the players below him) is that he will play for the prize money on Monday, as the difference between where he is and where he can possibly get (second place) is 2.5 million.
