The 2020 Rocket Mortgage Classic begins Thursday at the Detroit Golf Club as the PGA Tour conducts its fourth event since returning in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. While this event might not have the same field weight as the top three, there are still plenty of interesting stories including top 10 players, Webb Simpson, Bryson DeChambeau, and Patrick Reed, all involved in the tournament.
What’s more likely to win one of those big names, though, is someone whose life would change, like Nate Lashley’s last year, in the next four days. Perhaps Viktor Hovland will break the curse of the Puerto Rico Open and claim his second career victory after three consecutive top 25s. Maybe Will Gordon wins the week after he gets a special temporary membership. Either way, the Rocket Mortgage Classic should be great and it will be a good holiday weekend that starts early on Thursday morning.
