EL Passo, Texas (KVIA) – Government of Texas. Greg Abbott on Tuesday announced the creation of a coronavirus antibody treatment infusion wing at the state-run makeshift hospital for Covid-19 patients inside the El Paso Convention Center.

The Bamlanivimb Infusion Wing accepted its first patient on Tuesday afternoon. Hispanic man, said to be under 65, was selected for a three-hour treatment by doctors at the University Medical Center.
“The establishment of the Bamlanivimab Infusion Wing at the Al Paso Alternative Care Site is crucial for hospitalization and protection of dangerous taxonomies in the community,” Abbott said in the state. “I thank HHS for supporting our efforts by supplying State Texas with this shipment of Bamlanivimab for the pilot program. We will continue to ensure that this life-saving antibody therapy is available to Texans who are in dire need of it. “
Therapy is shown for hospitalized treatment in some patients when they use it before they become very ill.
Infectious disease specialist Dr. Armando Meza told ABC-7 that this antibody therapy works like a vaccine in the sense that it provides antibodies against the virus.
“Antibody protection actually occurs in the early stages of infection, so if you are going for this treatment, the symptom will be pathogenic or within the first few days of infection,” said Meza, head of infectious diseases. Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso. “These antibodies will only be given to critically ill patients, especially those at high risk.”
The convention center is used to treat moderate to mild symptoms in covid patients.
