18-year-old woman arrested for murder of man found dead on the roof of the Bronx McDonald’s

An 18-year-old woman was arrested for the murder of a man found dead on the roof of a McDonald’s last week, New York police said Saturday.

Ayame Stamoulis, of East Flatbush, was arrested and charged with the murder of a man found wrapped in a plastic bag on the roof of the South Bronx McDonald’s on East 149th Street near Morris Avenue around 6 am Wednesday, according to a statement from the New York police. A maintenance worker reportedly found the body.

Stamoulis and two other men are suspected of breaking into victim Richard Hamlet’s apartment, the Daily News reports.

They allegedly beat and strangled him, and then threw his body on the roof of McDonald’s near the apartment building, according to a copy of a criminal complaint obtained by News. ABC7 reports that all three also forced Hamlet to drink a caustic liquid.

The Bronx District Attorney’s office did not immediately respond to a query on Sunday. A police spokesman said no other arrests had been made until Sunday morning and that the investigation is ongoing. An attorney listed for Stamoulis did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Stamoulis is being held without bail on Rikers Island after being arrested on Friday. His next court date is August 17.
