18 ‘Destiny 2’ Currency that will be removed forever

That said, we’ve all heard (or done) our fair share of rumors about Destiny 2 deleting half of the game by putting it in the “content swap”, where most of it will never come back . But today I will look at the bright side of things, because there is a silver lining for all this distraction.

Eventually, our inventories will be somewhat eroded. With all these activities gone, that means a ton of different currencies as items will be gone, or written off, or changed into something else, most likely.

I have added 18 different things that will be deleted. They mainly come from our inventory screen, but a few are fixed in the area ‘quests’ such as the Chalice or Synthesizer. However, even if our vaults remain packed until we better understand sunlight and transmog, our inventories will in any case have some room to breathe.

Here are the 18 different things that will be deleted, and I’m sure I’ll forget one or two little things.

  1. Sea dyke for simulation (Mercury)
  2. Seraphite (Mars)
  3. Alkane Dust (Titanium)
  4. Phaseglass Needle (Io)
  5. Resonate Stems (Mars)
  6. Sentry Synths
  7. Reaper Synths
  8. Invader Synths
  9. Collector Synths
  10. Calus Tokens
  11. Rune finder
  12. Module Report (Black Armory)
  13. Black arm scheme
  14. Ballistic Logs (Black Armory)
  15. Forge Polymer (Black Armory)
  16. Obsidian Radiance (Black Armory)
  17. Chalice of Opulence (And All Runes)
  18. Powerful synthesizer (and all fashions)

So, what should you make of all this?

For the four planetary currencies, it seems likely that Bungie will introduce some sort of trade-in for them before Beyond Light hits, so that they do not just become completely meaningless or disappear altogether. At the moment you can spend them on things like Upgrade modules (depending on the day) or you can turn them into planetary vendors, which in turn can bring you together in armed parts, glitter, legendary shards and sometimes the core of improvement. But save for now, until Bungie tells us something else we might be able to earn.

I think the things I would like to see the most are the Synths, given that I can not get rid of them fast enough and you can not “disassemble” them, you have to use them, and there is a coal down. I have scores of every type without even trying. (Update: I’m told you can enable Synths for glitter at Drifter now, which makes me facepalm). Things like Synths of Armory schemes like Resonant tribes that I hope will just be completely removed from our inventories because they just “write off” and making us several hundred by hand will be a nasty nightmare.

Black Armory and Gambit Prime being added to the vault list is what made this list so long. They are responsible for 9 of the 18 things by themselves, and that does not include weak, normal and powerful motes for each Prime class. I may miss Forges a little, but I will not miss all these stupid currencies.

We also have some seasonal currency out there as well. Keys and treasure chests of the event. Altered Element and Trace Overrides are for the season itself. All in all, almost heal your inventory space should be clear after this season, although Beyond Light will of course introduce new currencies. There are bad currency offenders in Forsaken and Shadowkeep content as well, and I maintain that there are at least a dozen other currency types that need to be eliminated before this content goes under the sun, simply because it’s useless, from Phantasmal Cores to Dark Fragments to Charges of Light to Ghost Fragments. But one thing at a time, I think.

Good garbage currencies, I will not miss you.
