151 new COVID-19 cases; Hospitalized now under 300

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Baxter County Judge Nelson Wolfe updated the community about the local response to COVID-19 in their daily briefings Wednesday night.

As of Bookwar in Nirenberg, a total of 47,887 cases of COVID-19 and a total of 981 deaths have been reported in Baxter County, with an increase of 151 new cases. Two new deaths have been reported today. The 7-day moving average of the case is 175.

City officials also reported that 298 patients are hospitalized, 130 are in the intensive care unit and 84 are on ventilators. There is 14% staff bed available and 67% ventilator available.

The school risk level is “moderate”. Nirenberg said the level could be moved “lower” when the positivity rate falls below 5%. The current positivity rate is 6.7%.

Wolfe said the prison has 23 inmates who have tested positive for COVID-19 – 22 male inmates and 1 female inmate. He said the county is still managing a large population in prisons because the prisons have not yet been transferred to state prisons.

Wolfe said 151 citations – 76 for businesses and 75 for large gatherings – have been issued for violating emergency orders.
