The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 710 new cases of coronavirus as of Friday, July 24.
The cumulative total number of positive cases for Orange County is 33,358 since local testing began in March. County officials clarified that they may have evaluated an individual multiple times, but if they are positive, they are reported as a single case, even if they have duplicate positive results.
It is estimated that more than half of the cases, or 18,007 as of Friday, have recovered. The count of people who have recovered is based on the previous cumulative case count of 28 days.

13 new deaths were reported in Orange County on Friday, bringing the total number of residents who have died to 556.
The data on deaths in the county is either compiled from death certificates or collected throughout the investigation of the case and can take weeks to process, authorities say.
Of the 556 deaths, 247 were residents of skilled nursing facilities, 19 were in assisted living facilities, and one was listed as homeless.
The county’s death toll increased by 87 people last week, the largest increase of seven days to date.
The state coronavirus board reports that there have been 141 deaths in Orange County in the past 14 days.
Countywide, 384,692 tests have been reported for the coronavirus since testing began, with data through July 22. There were 4,035 daily tests reported in the update on Friday.
The state gave a test positivity rate of 9.9% for the county, with 99,607 tests in the past two weeks. The rate has been reported around 10 for several days.
According to the California Department of Health, there have been 9,903 new cases of COVID-19 in Orange County in the past 14 days.
The state agency also reports 711 hospitalized patients in the past 14 days (suspicious and positive) as of Thursday at 33 hospitals across the county.
The state’s coronavirus control panel shows that Orange County has at least 47% of its ICU beds available on Friday.

- 85 and older: 32% (179)
- 75-84: 24% (132)
- 65-74: 18% (101)
- 55-64: 13% (71)
- 45-54: 9% (49)
- 35-44: 3% (16)
- 25-34: 1% (7)
- 18-24: <1% (1)
- 17 and under: 0%
The data released daily is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
