My Control Center: notifications and quick actions

Android Police coverage: My Control Center app brings iOS design to your quick settings panel

If you’ve ever wanted to imitate the iOS Control Center, then My Control Center is precisely what you’re looking for. As you can see, this app accurately copies the layout of the iOS Control Center as well as the bumps you’d expect to use on iOS. This means that you can swipe from the top right of the screen to open your device settings, and you can swipe from the top left to open your notifications. Easy peasy.

JioMeet

Android Police coverage: JioMeet is basically a completely free 1: 1 copy of Zoom

JioMeet is a free video conferencing application that is being developed in India. Seeing that Zoom has dramatically increased in popularity thanks to the coronavirus, it makes sense for competitors to try to undermine the king. JioMeet is coming, a completely free video conferencing application, and since its user interface is designed similarly to Zoom, going from Zoom to JioMeet should ease the transition.

SwissCovid

Android Police coverage: The first large-scale application to use the Google and Apple contact tracking API is being tested in Switzerland

SwissCovid is one of the first large-scale apps to take advantage of Google contact tracking, and it was recently released to the Swiss public, if you live there and would like to try it out. While it’s easy to understand why such an app requires location tracking despite not using GPS, it appears that some users are upset with the app’s permissions, as Google Services requires users to provide access to your location data to use this application.

CloudMare: Cloudflare administrator

Unsurprisingly, CloudMare is a Cloudflare management app, and it’s a free launch that forgoes ads and in-app purchases, which is nice to watch. Through this app, you will be able to search and manage DNS records, view analytics, toggle page rules, manage SSL settings, manage caching controls, manage network settings, choose between a light or dark theme, and you can expect support for API tokens and email with an API key.

Microsoft MyHub

Microsoft MyHub is an application for Microsoft employees, so regular users will not be able to use it. Fortunately, hundreds of thousands of people work for the company, so I’m sure there are more than a few who want to try this app. So if you want to explore a one stop shop for all your Microsoft employee benefits, benefits and events, Microsoft MyHub is the app you are looking for.

NotificationHistory – Saving recent messages

NotificationHistory is just that, an app that saves all your notifications in one place, with the added benefit of being able to read your notifications through this app so you can leave people reading within Whatsapp or similar messaging apps. So if you’re the type who loves to keep people guessing if you’ve read your messages, NotificationHistory can surely help you keep the cloak of your mysterious but infuriating behavior.

AniWeather

AniWeather is a new weather application that offers a nice user interface. Clearly, the developer of this app goes for the most ingenious approach, and I can appreciate that. I mean, who wants to see an ugly weather app? More or less, you can expect the typical features found in most weather applications, such as hourly forecasts, actual temperatures, as well as location-based forecasts. So while this is a newer version that is still in progress, it looks good already, although that orange background with white text has to go.

Monetization: Free / No Ads / IAP $ 1.99 each

FilmBox

FilmBox is billed as a negative film scanner, so if you have stacks of slides or spools of negatives, FilmBox is here to help. Having recently valued a few different physical slide scanners, it’s nice to see that apps are filling the void for those who don’t want to sink a lot of change. So if you want to keep all your old photos without breaking the bank, FilmBox is a competent choice.

Wondery – Premium podcast app, immersive stories

Wondery is tagged as a premium podcast app, and much of its content focuses on immersive story-based podcasts. This inclusion of high-quality content means the app requires a subscription ($ 4.99 / mo), though you can watch it for free during a trial period, to see if it’s worth it. While I’m not so sure subscription-based podcast apps are going to be very successful, this subscription trend doesn’t seem to be slowing anytime soon.

Monetization: Free / Ad-Free / IAP from $ 4.99 – $ 34.99

Locals.com

Locals.com is a social media app that ideally provides direct access to creators and their communities, which actually sounds more like an ad app. But hey, who cares about the blurry lines between self-promotion and social content when there’s a new social media app to explore. I guess the only thing about this version is that it’s supposed to be censorship-free, thanks to its subscription model, although I find this statement hard to believe in the lens of our current times.

Manufacturer and connection applications

Security

Android Police coverage: Xiaomi Brings MIUI Security App to Play Store for Faster Updates

Security is a Xiaomi release, and just like any other manufacturer’s security app, you can secure your device with ease. Things like app crash, amount of data usage, and security analytics are present in this release. More or less, Security should be a pre-installed app for most Xiaomi users, and really, the company just uploaded the list to the Play Store so you can easily update the app without having to worry about operators.
