12 children diagnosed with COVID-19 syndrome treated at Riley Hospital for Children


INDIANAPOLIS – Riley Hospital for Children has treated 12 patients diagnosed with a syndrome linked to COVID-19.

All 12 patients with Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS-C) have been recovered and discharged from the hospital, Emily Garrett, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said in an email Friday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, MIS-C is a condition that can affect various parts of the body, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, and gastrointestinal organs. It is not known what causes the disease, but it is linked to the virus that causes COVID-19.

The syndrome in children is a condition and can cause some parts of the body, including the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs, to develop, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The exact number of patients in Indiana diagnosed with MIS-C is not clear, however, the CDC reports 11-20 cases in Indiana since Thursday.
