11-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 won’t have a fingerprint sensor on the screen

Samsung may not show the Galaxy Z Fold 2 at its Unpacked event on August 5, but there is still plenty of hardware expected to go official on that occasion. Along with the two members of the Note20 family, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and perhaps the Galaxy Watch 3, we will reportedly not see the launch of one but two high-end tablets, both called Galaxy Tab S7.

Less than 24 hours ago, a press rendering of the S7 was leaked and now comes new information on biometrics. There will be two sizes of Tab S7, 11 “and 12.4”, in case the appearance of the iPad Pro line in appearance was not enough to convince you of who Samsung believes are the main competitors of these tablets.

The smallest 11 “variation will apparently not have an on-screen fingerprint scanner, but will instead opt for a capacitive solution mounted inside the power button on the side. However, the larger 12.4” tablet will have a sensor. optical on the screen, and it is not clear what the reason for this differentiation may be. At the moment, it is also not known whether the Tab S7 + will have an optical sensor (like most phones) or an ultrasonic sensor (like Samsung’s flagship phones).

Otherwise, the two sizes are expected to be quite similar. They are powered by the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ chipset, with 5G support and a built-in S Pen. The S7 + has a 10,090 mAh battery, while the S7 has to settle for a 7,700-7,800 mAh cell. Screens must be AMOLED, and speakers “AKG tuned”. However, none of the models will have water resistance.
