105-year-old New Jersey woman beats gin-soaked raisins | New Jersey

A 105-year-old New Jersey woman who battled a deadly coronavirus has given her an unusual habit of continuing good health: gin-soaking raisins.

The New York Times reports that Lucia Dicklark, who lives in a nursing home, learned that she had contracted the virus in January, the day after receiving a second dose of the vaccine to combat Covid-1 combat.

The newspaper described how she showed a few symptoms and in two weeks she “came back to her room, grabbed her rose garland and wore her trademark sunglasses and knitted hat”.

Now recovered, Dicklark attributes his strong health and longevity to the nine gin-soaking raisins he eats every morning. “Fill a jar,” he explained to the Times. “Nine raisins a day after sitting for nine days.”

His story has attracted considerable attention in America and its state. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy called him for a congratulatory chat and told reporters: “What an enthusiastic conversation.”
