The Orange County Health Care Agency reported that there were 1,028 new confirmed coronavirus cases as of Monday, July 6.
The total accumulated cases reached 17,882 since the tests began in March. (You can see the increase in case totals by city since June 6 on the map below.)
There were no new deaths on Monday, keeping the total number of Orange County residents who died at 366.
Of the 366 deaths, 191 were included as people in skilled nursing facilities and two as homeless people.
According to the California Department of Health, there have been 97 COVID-19 deaths in Orange County in the past 14 days.
The state agency reports that 792 patients hospitalized in the past 14 days (suspicious and positive) at 33 hospitals across the county as of Monday. The state’s coronavirus dashboard also shows that Orange County has at least 42% of its ICU beds still available.
The county estimates the number of recoveries from the virus was 8,634 as of Monday. The count of people who have recovered is based on the previous cumulative case count of 28 days.
Across the county, 270,659 tests have been reported since the tests began, with data as of July 4. The state coronavirus board gave a test positivity rate of 10.8% for the county.
The county’s breakdown of deaths by age is as follows:
- 85 and older: 32% (119)
- 75-84: 27% (98)
- 65-74: 18% (63)
- 55-64: 12% (43)
- 45-54: 9% (32)
- 35-44: 2% (8)
- 25-34: 1% (3)
- 24 and under: 0%
The data released daily is preliminary and subject to change, officials emphasize. More information may become available as individual case investigations are completed.
