If you have recently purchased Google’s flagship Pixel 4 or opted for the more value-oriented Pixel 4a, you should know that both handsets have a few tricks to show. Tthese are the features, tools, settings, and tips you need to know about if you want to get the most out of your Pixel 4 or Pixel 4a smartphone.


1. Try Night Sight

The Pixel Phones’ cameras and hair associated image processing software stand out more than any other feature. Bif the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4a a powerful low-light Night Sight mode built into the camera app. This uses a variety of clever algorithms to brighten dark areas in a photo and retain an impressive amount of detail in low light photos.

2. Use the Recorder app

The Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4a are coming with a sort of exclusive built-in Recorder app, which we have written about for. The app used essentially Google’s AI to recognize and transcribe audio in real time, and gives you a very useful tool for recording interviews, lectures, podcasts, or anything else you need to write in writing and audio format.

The app could also not be easier to use. There is a large red recording button to access, and when the audio is recorded (or played back), you can view it in audio waveform or view the text transcript. You can add a title and location to your recordings, and by searching for specific snippets of text once they are saved.


Enable Motion Sense

Motion Sense has been cut from the Pixel 4a to make it cheaper, but it’s on the Pixel 4, allowing you to control certain features with gestures for your phone. It sounds gimmicky, but it’s more useful than you might think: Alarms become quieter when you move your hand to your phone, for example, and you can skip playing music with a wave though.

8. Adjust the home screen

The Pixels come with a few extras of home screen that are not part of Android, including the standard home screen widget that shows the current date and weather conditions, such as upcoming calendar events and traffic alerts. To configure the widget, long press on a blank area of ​​the homepage and then select Home settings followed by At a glance.

10. Turn on your phone
