10 thoughts about what will be released after the Tesla next op topilot update

13 October October, 2020 By Zachary Shahn

This morning, Tesla CEO (Chief Engineering Officer) Elon Musk tweeted that a limited release of Tesla’s “Full Self Driving” (FSD) software will come out on Tuesday, October 20th. In response, one commenter on our article noted, “Yes, there is no reason to buy FSD now. I think we will see a bunch of videos coming soon to give a better idea of the progress and people can provide more information. [Autopilot] Correct the decision before perhaps a change in prices again in history this winter. “That comment gave me the idea to write a piece on a variety of things that I think will happen after Tesla applies this next update.

However, before I move on, these predictions concern things that I think will happen after the massive public release of new software, not limited beta releases. I expect the mass release in the U.S. fleet to happen a few weeks later, or a week or two later.

Also, if you are unaware of the nature of this update, check out the backstory here: 10 Tesla op Topilot, Full Self Driving, and Dojo Development Updates Elon Musk. And if you want to know more about the Tesla op Topilot team and the work behind this software, check out this Clintenica Exclusive: The Tesla TopPilot Innovation Team comes from a team of 300 JD engineers – an interview with Elon Musk.

What will happen after Tesla’s next Aut Topilot / FSDS software update is released?

1. Tesla owners will be flooded on social media when posting a video of what their cars can do now. (I will almost certainly do so.)

2. Customer interest in Tesla will jump up again, and interest in the FSD package will also jump – between potential owners and current owners.

3. Tesla FSD will increase the cost of software package.

E. Eagle Eyed Critics will identify a few gaps where the op topilot still struggles, identifying the remaining technical hurdles for full self-driving Tesla robotaxis.

Major. Major media sites will write articles or publish videos about the small percentage of Tesla owners doing crazy and potentially risky tasks with FSD. (There will always be stupid people, and stupid people will always get excited to cover the news media.)

Some. Some critics will claim that Tesla misleads “full self-driving” and is lobbying for a change of terminology or a complete ban on technology.

I. Me and many others will start taking some trips around the city in which we monitor our car to drive 100% of the time, not to interfere with driving once, and thus blow our minds. (I never thought I’d see such a day before coming with Tesla.)

Financial. Financial analysts and investors will begin to legally turn more software into revenue and profit in their models for Tesla [TS:A]. They will begin to include potential robotaxi revenue in their models.

The. Elon Musk will tweet that we haven’t seen anything yet and it’s a bleeding-edge version of the technique he’s driving Really Blow our brains.

10. Tesla software The customer will learn more about how to better operate the fleet and Tesla will roll out updates in the following weeks and months that further the FSD experience.
