More than 100 people from a motorcycle club rioted in Iowa early Saturday morning, killing at least one person and injuring several others.
Police in the town of Waterloo, 55 miles northwest of Cedar Rapids, said they responded to a “shot-firing report” gathered at a biker at about one o’clock in the morning.
Waterloo Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald told a news conference Saturday morning that about a dozen people were injured or shot by officers upon arrival. It looks like he has moved on to shooting “some kind of confrontation” at the location, he said.
Paramedics and firefighters also responded to the chaotic scene, and many of the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, police said.
Fitzgerald said one of the eight people killed in the shooting died and the other was in critical condition. The other four people were injured by debris or glass and escaped.
Fitzgerald said the gathering had not been authorized and investigators were trying to determine who rented the building. Investigators are also trying to determine if there were more than one shooter.
No arrests have been made in the shooting. However, three people were arrested after authorities responded to the disorder behavior behavior outside the emergency room at a local people’s hospital, where some of the victims were taken away.
