1 killed, 1 injured in high-speed crash in Davy, police say

Davy, Fla. – One person was killed and one was injured in a high-speed crash Friday night in Dewey, police said.

The collision occurred when the driver of the red Mustang was heading east on Sterling Road, and the driver of the silver Kia Soul was making a U-turn on Northwest 77th Avenue, according to the surgeon. Calvin Urbez.

“That vehicle was a T-Bone,” Davey Police Department spokesman Urbez said of Silver Kia Sol.

Good Samaritans rushed to the damaged car, hoping they could help. There were many Witnesses, including Michelle Weber, who lived in the area.

“I just heard a loud bang,” Weber said, as she ran outside to see where she came from.

The driver of the Kia Soul, who was making a U-turn, was killed, Barbez said. Must Rbez said the driver who believed the red Mustang was speeding was hospitalized with hand injuries.

Researchers believe that speed was a factor in how far the victim’s car traveled from where it initially struck.

“Some witnesses stayed on the scene and advised us that a car, a red Mustang, was actually traveling at excessive speed,” Urbez said.

Silver Kia Soul Up was shattered. The red Mustang was about a block away from the impact, police said. There was also a third car that was wrecked, and the driver was waiting for police officers to arrive.

Detectives were searching for the driver who witnessed the crash and left the scene.

“You’ll hear people racing,” Weble said of living near Sterling Road. “She is OK. It’s scary. “

Barbase tells drivers to avoid the area, which he said will be closed during the investigation.

Explanation: Police officers initially thought the two vehicles were drag racing, but as the investigation progressed they determined that speed was involved but the drivers were not running.
