One person was killed and several people were injured when an SUV collided with the lobby of the Piedmont Hospital emergency room on Tuesday morning.
A Mercedes-Benz shot down two people and “hit several more” just inside the glass doors of the hospital building on Peachtree Road, said Atlanta police spokesman Steve Avery.
Her driver was arriving for an appointment around 7:40 a.m. when she lost control in the circular drive outside the emergency room, collided with another car and veered into the building, she said. She was not injured.
A person was pronounced dead at the scene. At least four other people were injured, although their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The names of the victims were not disclosed.
Avery said investigators don’t know what caused the woman to lose control. The crash is still under investigation.
