Zoom video communication (NASDAQ: ZM) takes advantage of the boom at work due to the coronavirus pandemic by announcing its video conferencing software will soon be available on popular smart displays of Amazon.com, Facebook (NASDAQ: FB), and Google.
Zoom on Facebook’s portal would be available next month, while features for Amazon’s Echo Show and Google’s Nest Hub Max will be available at the end of the year.
Call in the home office
Zoom launched its Home product last month, and it teamed up with its hardware-as-a-service (HaaS) program to provide companies with affordable conference and collaboration equipment for their employees.
It recently announced its Zoom Phone cloud phone service was now available in 40 countries around the world.
The video communications specialist cites a Morning Consult study showing that working from home has tripled compared to prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, and a third of workers would upgrade their home office setup if their employers subsidize the costs.
Nearly half (47%) of employers aim to allow employees to complete work from home by working ahead, and adding Zoom Video capabilities to products that people already have in their homes would certainly be useful expand.
At the same time, Facebook is also looking to take advantage of the work-from-home trend, and announce separately that in addition to its own Workplace collaboration tool and the addition of Zoom functionality, it has also partnered with BlueJeans, GoToMeeting, and Webex for more more options for video conferencing on Portal.
Facebook says Workplace on Portal also includes Portal TV and it has now added backgrounds for video calling.
