Yarntown is a 16-bit horror love letter for Bloodborne and The Legend of Zelda

While we are still waiting for news of a Bloodborne

2, Yarntown, a free standalone game that is available now, seeks to help fill the void with a top-down 2D reinvention inspired by The Legend of Zelda from Central Yharnam of Bloodborne. As reported by Kotaku, Yarntown is developed on the Solarus engine by Max Mraz and is available for free on Itch.io. In addition to featuring many of Bloodborne’s gameplay mechanics, such as blood flasks, lamps, mercury bullets, stamina, and dodge scrolls, Yarntown also includes most of what appeared in Central Yarnham, including rabid dogs, hunters, trolls of bricks and even the Beast of the Cleric and Father Gascoigne fights with the boss.

Players start in the Hunter’s Dream area, complete with The Doll, and can level up as they would in Bloodborne and fortify their weapons.

I had a chance to try out the game, and while it hasn’t quite reached the difficulty of a game like Bloodborne, that atmosphere and recreated world is a wonderful tribute and definitely worth checking out.

Bloodborne, who came in at n. # 3 on our latest Top 25 PS4 games list, it launched in 2015, and we believe a second entry would be one of the 9 Sequels that would make PS5 a force to be reckoned with.
