Xiaomi Mi TV LUX Transparent edition release

During its 10th anniversary event, Xiaomi unveiled the world’s first mass-produced transparent TV, the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition.

Built on its minimalist design and flagship configurations, the monumental 55 ”5.7mm ultra-thin display features an edge-to-edge transparent luminescent design. The TV sees images hanging in the air and when turned off, it’s just a transparent piece of glass.

The Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition houses the way TVs are traditionally designed, and includes all of its processing units in its base station. The transparent OLED panel has a static contrast ratio of 150000: 1 and an infinite dynamic contrast ratio, offering extra rich blacks and unmatched brightness. Thanks to the support of its DCI-P3 93% color spectrum support, the 10-bit panel shows 1.07 billion color combinations that are far beyond what the human eye can perceive. In addition, the 120Hz refresh rate and the 120Hz MEMC technology provide a fast response rate of 1ms which provides less latency, smoother and clearer motion representation.

Using Xiaomi’s AI Master Smart Engine and MediaTek 9650 custom TV chip, the TV has more than 20 optimization algorithms and dedicated optimization for five large-scale scenarios to intelligently refine graphical resolution for live photos. The technology with Dolby Atmos support detects the type of content displayed to select an appropriate audio mode. Finally, the Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition runs on the customizable MIUI interface designed to incorporate the visual features into the TV.

Priced at ¥ 50,000 RMB (about $ 7,195 USD), Xiaomi’s Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition is set to officially release August 16th.
