Xbox One, PS4 and PC offering 6 free games right now

Once upon a time, it used to be that all you needed to enjoy an online multiplayer game was a console and, well, a copy of the game itself. However, since the boom in streaming services, more and more industries have been borrowing elements of the strategies and formulas that made companies like Netflix and Hulu so successful.

One of these is the monthly payment plan. To play a multiplayer title online, consoles like Xbox One and PlayStation 4 now require customers to sign up for a subscription service. And to give them a good value for their money, parent companies Sony and Microsoft offer subscribers a small selection of free video games every month.

Xbox Live Gold subscribers, along with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate holders, can now take the racing game FIA WRC 8 World Rally Championship as well as action adventure sandbox smasher Saints Row 2. The first is available throughout the month, while the second will remain accessible for free until July 15.

Moving to Play station, and PS Plus users are eligible to play some of the best shooting games ever created. First of all we have Call of Duty: WWII, who sports a movement, Brothers band-esque single-player campaign, as well as a wildly original iteration of Nazi zombies. However, if you are in no mood for German at all, you can visit Star Wars Battlefront II instead. Located in deep space instead of 20th century Europe, this one features some pretty awesome graphics and both are free until July 6, so get moving.

Last but not least, PC gamers will be able to take Mud life and Hue as long as they have an Epic Games Store account. The first is free until May 28 of next year, while the second is free until July 6 of this year.
