Microsoft has not spent .5 7.5 billion on Zenimax / Bethesda for its current pipeline alone – the company released that huge fee because it believes in Bethesda’s future games. We don’t know exactly what it is, but now Xbox boss Phil Spencer has given a tease.
In an appearance on Major Nelson’s podcast, Spencer said he knew the “future roadmap” for Bethesda’s game studio, and considered it a “very exciting time.”
“I have the advantage of knowing the future guidelines and working on the teams to give a little insight into what has been announced without the announcement,” Spencer said. “It’s an incredibly exciting time for the work that Bethesda’s studios do, as they continue with the craft of making games and also thinking about how our gaming medium evolves and what their role is in it.”
Some of the most high profile development games at Bethesda Studios that we know of include Starfield and The Elder Scroll VI. Bethesda has also confirmed that she is working on a third Wolfenstein game.
It looked like Obsidian Entertainment, which had previously worked on Bethesda’s Fallout franchise, played the fictional role of the first person in the Elder Scroll series with Evd. Bethesda is now part of the Xbox and with the development of the official Elder Scroll VI, however, it looks like we will have multiple games like this in the next several years. We are not complaining.
The Wolfenstein game will probably be developed by Machine Machine Game, which originally developed its sequel, and released the single Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. The latter game was co-developed by Arken Studios. Both will soon be owned by Micro .ft. But the Wolfenstein series also got a semi-recent VR game. It’s not clear whether Bethesda will work heavily in VR after moving to the Xbox game studio.
In addition to new games for consoles and PCs, Bethesda has expanded its efforts on mobile, so you can also expect additional titles for phones and tablets.
In the interview, Spencer spoke about why he believes Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda was a step forward in their current relationship.
“You find teams out there that are always pushing themselves and their potential, and I basically believe that the more closely we work with teams, the better we will be as a platform,” Spencer said.
