Desperate times bring out the worst in people – from those who stored toilet paper and sold individual rolls for more than $ 50 at the start of the COVID-19 quarantine, to those who are now trying to sell crappy iPhones with the Fortnite game installed on them before thousands of dollars.

I would normally dismiss this as a lame attempt to suck people out of their money that apparently will not work, but apparently it has got worked. Some eBay shoppers are spend outrageous amounts of money on iPhones they do not need.

It’s bad enough if you buy a top-of-the-line used iPhone 11 Pro for more than what Apple costs for a brand new iPhone; iIt’s worse if you spend that kind of stupid money – again, thousands of dollars – on something like a used iPhone XR or iPhone 8 Plus. A sucker is born every minute, and in a perfect world eBay would have some sort of “common sense” test they would first have to pass on to use the service.

However, here’s the reason this is all but one big scam that you should avoid, no matter how much your kids complain about how they can not install Fortnite on their iPhone or iPad.

You should never have to pay for a year-old iPhone too much

First, and most obvious, is the fact that you pay way, wei more for an iPhone than what it’s worth one match. If you’ll drop $ 4,000 for a $ 1000 smartphone, buy your kids a $ 1000 laptop and let them play Fortnite on that. Heck, even a $ 500 laptop would have to be enough to get them on the bus and venture to the driver without any problem.

You may not be able to play Fortnite for very long

Second, and more importantly, there is absolutely no guarantee that an iPhone comes with it Fortnite already installed on it – as is the case for many Fortnite fans – will be able to play the game much longer. All it takes is one iOS update that breaks some issue in the game to make it completely unplayable. Fortnite creator Epic Games has no way of getting you an updated version of the game because it no longer exists in the App Store, and Epic Games will also no longer have an Apple developer account. Dyn Fortnite time feels limited.

Even in a best-case scenario, you may not be able to play the latest version of the game with all the seasonal updates that Epic Games throws into the mix. I have no idea how long you can keep playing an older version of Fortnite, but the chances are good that even this window will eventually close.

You can waste every cent you spend ‘re expenses

In the end, you might not agree need an iPhone that has Fortnite already installed on it. While it is true that you can not find Fortnite in the App Store anymore, that does not mean you can not download it fan from the App Store.

Here’s what I mean. If you have ever downloaded Fortnite earlier on iOS – I would assume that most people who want the game now have at least tried it at some point in its three-year history – then it’s still associated with your account.

Pull up the App Store, tap the icon of your account in the top right corner and tap “Purchased.” Search for “Fortnite”, and if you are lucky, it will be available for you to download. That’s a lot easier, and a lot cheaper, than buying someone else’s iPhone, but I applaud these eBay sellers for the hustle and bustle. Just No.
