Why did Tesla do Battery Day? Why did he announce it half a year ago?

For many Tesla followers, Battery Day was a mind-blowing event, one of the highlights of the year, if not the decade. For others, it wasn’t what they expected and it was a fall because no big new product was made. Soon Available And no new vehicles were revealed – no electric aircraft, no Model 2, no electric boats. Most of those who complained about Barry Day were more focused on Tesla stock, and, in particular, the share price plummeted the next day.

Although I found this question surprising, as I saw a lot of people in Tesla asking why so many people at the event, it made me reflect on their confusion and what I believe to be the answer. I also saw people looking at why Tesla announced the Semin a few years ago when the company still couldn’t produce it on a large scale. Putting this together, I think there are four main reasons why Tesla has events like this. (Side note: I will also include overall company branding and product marketing in general here, as these may be the biggest benefits offered by these events, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk has repeatedly expressed disregard for branding – Even the word itself – and corporate marketing, so I guess that’s not the kind of thing that stimulates these kinds of events.)

Can be found anyway

In all of these cases, I think if you pay attention to what has come out, most of the public will like it, but not in any broad way to tell a story or explain the product accurately.

Think Semino: Semina needs Tesla to start testing the road. If he had done it without revealing the giant truck, there would have been some sort of grassroots coverage of it anyway, all sorts of hype and rumors (some valid, some not certain), and a story that probably goes too far from reality.

In the case of Battery Day, Tesla Pilot is starting to increase production at the battery factory. There are also unplanned St. (and unique) lithium mining operations planned or ongoing. And that battery is coming into cathode production. Information about these things will definitely come out. That would lead to all sorts of speculation, some of which could very easily be detrimental to Tesla and its purpose. Going forward with the leaks and breaking the news himself, Elon Musk was able to tell the story with as wide and useful a context as he wanted.

You can run a variety of products that Tesla has rolled out – be it a cybertruck or a Model 3 – and see that Tesla generally started more public testing after the product was unveiled.

To show the industry where its main goal is to advance

Tesla with so many things, I think you have to remember Tesla’s mission. It’s not a typical corporate mission, and it’s easy to forget about it and make false assumptions that will ignore it. Tesla’s main goal is to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy. With the Battery Day presentation (and semi-presentation), Tesla was pushing Hard On the broader industry to push it forward or try to catch it. If Tesla escapes with some big advantages in battery production and in the supply of raw minerals, sure, Tesla has a competitive advantage in the market. However, as the overall market momentum slows on these matters, more Tesla fails in its main goal.

Elon Musk wants the auto industry to produce more electric vehicles, not more Tesla. It wants the battery industry to produce more batteries to allow the production of electric vehicles. It wants the mining industry to mine more core minerals for EV batteries so that those batteries can be produced and fitted into more electric vehicles. If the world urgently needs to move toward clean, sustainable, electric transport, all parts of the industry need to pick up speed. Sometimes they need to be pushed. Sometimes they need to be pulled. Sometimes they need to be kicked in the buttocks. I think Barry Day served that purpose, and I hope (and believe) Elon Musk consciously serves the purpose of the event.

To attract engineers and supply Tesla needs

Elon Musk has repeatedly stressed the need for better or greater engineers. There are so many great engineers in the world. Tesla needs a ton of them. While Tesla and SpaceX are regularly identified as top workplaces for engineers, with Tesla’s growth and many more, Many Faced with the challenges, the company needs a constant flow of high quality engineers to join the company.

I believe that events like this stimulate a large number of engineers – and other essential professionals (we should not forget about them anywhere) – and inspire a large number to get started. To think About applying, or going to an engineering program at a university or elsewhere. Heck, these events make a lot of people who are really interested in the field even before they had a little interest in engineering!

I said above that Elon is not so big in branding or marketing. It is ironic, however, that it is one of the best brands and marketers of the last century. I would say there is no question about it. Critics will also often claim that he is as good as he is in his full role. (I don’t think it’s an intelligent assessment of the matter, but I think it shows how much it shapes a popular company brand.) A place that branding is especially valuable to Tesla and it’s long, it puts it Tesla tops the list of engineering dream jobs for many young engineers, and even more experienced ones. Working in a company that focuses so much on engineering ethics appeals to ridiculously driven, passionate, hard-working engineers – exactly the kind of people who make the impossible possible.

Because Elon is excited about all of this and wants to share the excitement

Sometimes you have to consider the most basic of human desires. Sometimes it’s not about goals or a narrow corporate strategy. Sometimes it’s just human beings. I think anyone who has followed Elon closely has seen that Love Exciting, entertaining, sharing inspiring things with others. When he gets excited, he wants to share the source of the excitement with others. I have seen it in so many cases that I think it is not clear. This instinct in myself is very strong (which is probably a good part of the reason I’m in a career), and it’s a normal human desire. We like to share our favorite things with others.

While Tesla is building a great product or production process, Elon gets more and more excited about it. At some point, he has to go to Twitter to tweet it. In the second stage, I think it forces a full presentation on the subject of seeing the world – or at least the millions of people who want to see it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tesla started doing these technical events (on Tonomy Day and Barry Day) for the only reason. Maybe there were more sensitive objectives like the ones mentioned above, or maybe it was just that Tello wanted to share the exciting development with more people. Maybe Elon will comment on this article and let us know. I guess he would if he had to run on his Twitter feed.
