She’s the most provocative star of 2020: When she’s not topping the Billboard charts with a song that’s so raunchy we can ‘t call it, she’s appeared on the crime scene for a mysterious night of gunplay.
Meet Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, aka Megan Thee Stallion, a 25-year-old Texas health care student who has become the ‘it’ ‘girl of the music world through her rapes, her husbands – and the next Mayhem who always seems to follow her.
“She’s a hustler,” Megan’s hairdresser Jonathan Wright told Page Six.
Of the controversy that accompanies her, the pal said that it only made Megan stronger, and insists: ‘She has grown a lot mentally, physically and everything in between. ”
Megan as a child
As a child, Megan knew what it was like to wrestle, growing up in the South Park area of Houston Texas, which she described as half ” hood s- -t, ” half ‘family environment’ ‘after Rolling Stone.
Her mother, Holly Thomas, was a Houston bill collector and rapper, known as Holly-Wood, who raised Megan at UGK and the Notorious BIG Thomas was also Megan’s first manager.
Megan characterized her mother’s music as a ‘hardcore gangster’, saying, ‘When I started rapping, and cussing and s – t, she was,’ I do not know where you’re coming from. ‘ [But] she was a paw, worse than me. ”
The rapper said her father, Joe Pete, was a ‘full-time hustler’ who was imprisoned for the first eight years of her life and died when she was just 15 years old.
How Megan Thee Stallion got her name – and rep
Megan was in high school when she says men growing up called her a “stallion” – Southern snake for a benevolent, high woman. The crooked 5-foot-10 rapper says she eventually figured out why it would not embrace – and Megan Thee Stallion was born.
She started raping as a young teen, and by her New Year’s Eve at the Prairie View A&M University in Houston in 2013, she was already grabbing a lot of attention locally – although it wasn’t always for what she wanted.
Megan got into trouble with the school administration for posting twerking videos.
“Believe it or not, I used to be a little embarrassed,” Megan said. “I never wanted anyone to know that I could do it myself. Even when I came to college and I told my best friend that I could rap, she would look like ‘OK. Well, then rap. ‘
‘I would not do it. But then we went for a kickback, and I just started rapping. . . . I was confident in myself, but I did not really know how people would react to how I thought of myself on the inside. ‘
She eventually dropped out of school, was brushed off for fighting with an ex after discovering he had a secret baby – and saw her freestyles go viral on YouTube.
‘Hot Girl Summer’
Megan’s rising star finally hit fire in August 2019 with her hit ‘Hot Girl Summer’ ‘featuring Nicki Minaj, Ty Dolla $ ign – and a video with a belt that has been viewed more than 53 million times on YouTube.
Their latest hit, No. 1 on the Hot 100, is a collaboration with Cardi B called “WAP” (you can see what it stands for). The video features the duo dancing in various stages of undress.
Megan is now known for her scandal – but the controversy that comes with it does not always make her happy.
“A man can be as mediocre as he wants, but still be praised,” Megan said. ‘A man can talk about how he does all these drugs, and then come and clean up your house. But as soon as I say something about my vagina, is it the end of the world? ‘
Legal issues
Megan filed a lawsuit against her old record company in March, not by pulling one, claiming that the contract she signed when she was 20 was “not only unintentional, but ridiculously so.”
While “FREETHEESTALLION” took to Twitter, the rapper was in court in the fight against the label, 1501, and her CEO, former baseball star Carl Crawford, who called her a liar and a fraud in the press.
A judge in Texas finally ruled in her favor, and Megan celebrated the victory on Instagram, posting: ‘I will stand up for myself and will not allow two men to bully me. I am not PROPERTY. ”
Megan, Tory Lanez and that shot
Then in July, Megan was caught up in a new controversy.
Cops in Los Angeles were called amid gun reports from their rumored rapper friend Tory Lanez’s driver-driven SUV at 12:30 a.m. July 12 – and Megan was seen stunned away and eventually treated in hospital for bullet wounds to her feet.
They refused to identify the shooter – until Friday.
That’s when Megan Lanez publicly fingered the man who shot her last month.
‘Yeah, this n – a Tory shot me,’ Megan said in an Instagram Live video.
‘You shot me, and your publicist and your people went to these blogs. Stop lyin ‘. Why lie? ‘she said.
Asked how Megan had handled the shooting, Wright told Page Six, ‘She does not like people feeling sorry for her.
“I just can not believe this happened to her.” ‘
The LA District Attorney’s Office has said it is considering launching an attack on Lanez in the shooting.
Who Meagan is dating
It is not clear with whom the star is now dating. She was spotted with rapper Future at a strip club in Atlanta last week, and still sports a bandage on her foot. Megan has also been linked to G-Eazy and Moneybagg Yo.
But she hardly needs a man at the moment.

‘WAP’s charitable video has already been viewed more than 113 million times on YouTube alone.
Cardi B even bought her pal a custom Birkin bag with a painted stallion on it, in the same black and white costume that Megan wore in her video, to celebrate the couple’s success.
But while fans are crazy about it, the work that critics base it on is bad for women and just too vulgar. Singer and rapper CeeLo Green called the work ‘desperate’ and ‘insane’, though he has since apologized.
Megan’s plans for the future
However, Megan has plans for herself outside of the rap world.
She is currently enrolled in Texas Southern University, which is studying health care, and said, ‘My grandmother would be very bored if I stopped college right now.
‘I had to get this degree. I’m already started it, and I’m interested in what I do, because I want to open assistance housing facilities in the city. ”
