The world needs to step up efforts to combat the Covid-1 combat – and countries should not disappoint their defenders, the World Health Organization’s chief scientist warned on Monday that there are cases of coronavirus worldwide.
“We are at a very dangerous time,” said Dr Soumya Swaminathan of the World Health Organization. “We need to double, this time is not going to pass.”
The WHO warned last week that new Covid-19 cases are on the rise worldwide after six consecutive weeks of decline. According to the health agency, more than 2.6 million new cases were reported in the last week of February, up 7% from the previous week.
It added that the Eastern Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas have seen growth of 6% and 14% each.

“This partial lockdown is due to fatigue, you know. It’s because of the people … maybe more casual because they think the vaccines are on the way,” Swaminath told CNBC’s “Squawk Boxx Asia” on Monday. . New variants can also play a part, he added.
“We need to do everything we can to control the virus, to keep the transmission going until there is enough vaccine,” he warned, warning that health care systems could again become an overburdened burden. .
“Health workers around the world are tired, they have been fighting this for a year now,” he added.
Other health experts have also expressed that there is no time to be happy.
Julie Morita, executive vice president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, said it is important to recognize that infections, hospitalizations and deaths are still high even if they have fallen from their peaks in the U.S.
He told CNBC on Monday. “We still need to wear masks, to socialize, to avoid large crowds,” he told Street Sign Asia.
“Although these vaccines are increasing for us in the country, we cannot disappoint our guards,” he said. “It’s easier than ever.”
