What Mookie Betts shared with Dodger fans after signing their new contract

After signing a $ 365 million extension for 12 years, the second-largest contract extension in MLB history, Mookie Betts is excited to be a Los Angeles Dodger.

The former Red Sox right fielder posted a photo of himself sitting outside Dodger Stadium on Instagram on Thursday, where he expressed gratitude to the franchise for giving him the opportunity to “enter this new chapter.”

“First I want to thank God for all my blessings!” Betts wrote in the caption. Thank you @dodgers for the opportunity to be a part of something very special! I am excited about my future with this club. Thanks to the fans for their support and congratulations. I can’t answer them all, but I feel love. A special thanks to my family, friends and team for their love and support as we begin this new chapter. The city of Los Angeles … IS SHOWTIME.

Former teammates Brock Holt and Jackie Bradley Jr. commented on their post with their congratulations.

“Blessings upon blessings,” wrote Bradley Jr.

Betts also gave a press conference after the news.

Betts is sure to make an impact in LA, as he won an MVP award and a World Series title in 2018 while preparing for the Red Sox. He was traded to the Dodgers in February by outfielder Alex Verdugo, catcher Connor Wong and infielder Jeter Downs. As detailed by CBS Sports, Betts’ $ 365 million contract is the third-richest contract in sports history, behind only the $ 426 million contract by Mike Trout and the new Kansas City quarterback contract. Chiefs Patrick Mahomes for 10 years and $ 503 million with the team that is the richest deal in NFL history.
