What Delta Airlines Is Doing to Continue Protecting COVID-19 Passengers

DETROIT – At a time when passengers are concerned that others are wearing masks and that the flights are too crowded, Local 4 observed first-hand how Delta Airlines keeps everyone safe of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Help me Hank took a flight from Detroit to Denver to test the process.

The first thing travelers will notice at the terminal are the hand sanitizing stations installed everywhere.

Downstairs in the McNamara terminal, there were only a handful of people when Hank made his journey. He was the only person passing the safety stairs on the TSA preflight line.

Items are placed on a tray that has a protective layer to help reduce germs.

Once through security, the terminal had average crowds. The good news is that everyone Hank saw was wearing a mask.

Some doors are closed and no one is nearby in the door areas with lower or higher numbers. Many of the shops and bathrooms in the terminal are also closed.

Cleaning crews are everywhere in the terminal.

At the gate, there is a protective shield to separate travelers from the Delta gate agent.

While walking on the plane, passengers receive a disinfecting wipe.

Delta keeps the middle seats open, and flights can be half full.

Before the security video was run, a new video was played showing what Delta is doing to protect passengers from the coronavirus. That includes electrostatic spraying on the plane before each flight, a limited number of people on board, and a filtration system to circulate and clean the air.
