Swiss pianist Alain Roche’s first performance after the closing turned out to be high-flying, both figuratively and literally, as the man and his instrument hung from a crane 40 meters above the ground.
More than a hundred music lovers gathered on Friday at a construction site in the French city of Nantes to witness the unconventional show.
They were all sitting on deckchairs and wearing headphones so they could comfortably observe the artist who levitates while listening to his good quality music.
Putting a massive piano in the air at 90 degrees was it “Cancellation of codes and conventions” Roche explained to RT’s Ruptly video agency. “It is confronting the classical side of a pianist … with this crude, raucous and dirty world of a construction site.”

And the public was impressed with what they saw and heard. “It was an extraordinary and magical experience, urban poetry,” said one of the witnesses to the concert.
