Orville Peck shared the video for his Shania Twain collaboration ‘Legends Never Die’, along with the masked country singer who will release his new EP, ‘Show Pony’, today (August 14). ‘
‘I can not thank Shania enough for her part in this; she has always been a hero of mine and her music made me feel so powerful that I grew up, ‘Peck commented in a statement. ‘As cliché as it sounds, recording with her and stepping on stage and singing with her in Nashville is a dream. No words actually. ”
The cheerful Cameron Duddy-directed clip sees the couple perform their duet to an enthusiastic drive-in audience. Check it out below:
‘Show Pony’ arrives almost a year and a half after Peck’s debut album, ‘Pony’ of 2019.
Following the example of the project with singles ‘Summertime’ and ‘No Glory in the West’, Peck says ‘Show Pony’ is the EP he “always wanted to make”.
‘I spent the past year on the road and then in quarantine, I could think about everything that had happened since the release of‘ Pony ’and expand on it. This is a collection of stories and I hope listeners join me. ”
In a four-star review of ‘Show Pony’, NME said the EP was led by his “razzle-dazzle duet” with Twain.
‘Perhaps his most pop-lane track to date, it shoves the plug into the dimly lit world he prefers most. Instead, ‘Legends Never Die’ is a country belt of stadium with a knowledgeable nod to LGBTQ + fanbases from both artists – “you have nothing if you have no pride,” their voices meet to croon. “
In addition to ‘Legends Never Die’ and the previously released singles, the new EP also has the tracks ‘Drive Me, Crazy’ and ‘Kids’, along with a cover of Bobbie Gentry’s 1970 hit ‘Fancy’ from 1970.
