One of the main things that the next one establishes Watch Dogs Legion apart from its predecessors is that you can play as no one. It’s an absurdly ambitious system, but you’ll finally be able to recruit and play like any of the NPCs scattered around London … including the descendant of Assassin’s Creed star Jacob Frye.
Jacob Frye was one of two playable characters in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, along with his sister Evie. Jacob was one of the Assassin Masters who lurked in the streets of Victorian London, so it is not too surprising to see his great-great-great-great (great-great?) Touching the capital.
The ordered reference was discovered by Simi / سيمي on Twitter (thanks, VG247). It seems that Sandra Cassidy is proud of her ancestors as she continues the family work as a professional assassin who kills targets with a Desert Eagle. That is pretty rough.
Sandra obviously doesn’t share Frye’s name, but the logic behind this link is that the player seems to have specifically searched for “descendants of Jacob Frye”. It remains to be seen if there are any other distant relatives of the Frye brothers waiting to be found in the game, but I emphatically resolve any Easter eggs linking the two eras and franchises.
During the last preview sessions, players also saw a subtle nod to Assassin’s Creed’s leap of faith mechanic, complete with the iconic so-called eagle when you leap. These are minor touches, but I would expect Ubisoft to have slipped in more than a few winks to Labor union in Legion. We just have to go find them when the game hits PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 29.
In our own game preview, we were quite impressed. “From what I’ve played Watch Dogs LegionI am happy to play through some rough edges if that means playing a game that is not just made up of the same tired open world tropes that have filled the games in this generation, “wrote Julian Benson.
“I have moved away from Watch Dogs Legion genuinely excited to spend time in that city and push the seams of the city, looking for amazing ways to manipulate their systems. ”
